Seventh Week of Easter – Saturday

Acts 28:16-20, 30-31. John 21:20-25

What about him?

We come to the last day of the Easter season; the first reading brings before us the narrative from the last page of the Acts and the gospel reading from the last page of the Gospel of John.

John concludes his gospel: “There are also many other things that Jesus did, but if these were to be described individually, I do not think the whole world would contain the books that would be written.”

God experience is personal. God experience can’t be described enough. Peter, pointing at the beloved disciples, asks Jesus, “What about him? What would befall him?” Jesus replies to him, “What concern is it of yours?”

This is a lesson for us. A person who has God experience must go his or her way, not comparing themselves with others. One must not be hasty or anxious.

The first reading records Paul’s entry into Rome. Paul chooses to reside in a rented house. Paul, though he was a prisoner, had control over his life. He knew what he wanted to do with his life, and he wanted others to treat him in a dignified way.

Paul invites the Jews to meet him. Paul is not angry with them. Paul reconciles with them. Maybe the rented house has an impact on him.

Two takeaways for us:

(a) To be rooted in our God-experience and to go deeper in it.

(b) To understand the temporary nature of life and to let go.
